The Clinic for Ear, nose and throat expertise (ENT), Head and Neck Surgery at the Alfried Krupp Hospital in Essen focuses on microsurgical middle ear surgery, endonasal microendoscopic surgery including surgery of the lacrimal pathways, diagnostic and operative therapy of sleep-related respiratory disorders, phonosurgery and plastic-aesthetic surgery. Three separate operating theatres are available for this purpose, which are directly attached to the outpatient clinic.

The Clinic for Neurology at the Alfried Krupp hospital Essen has a long-standing reputation for excellence in the diagnosis and treatment of neurological disorders like cerebrovascular disorders, neuro-inflammatory diseases including multiple sclerosis, neuromuscular diseases including polyneuropathy and motoneuron disease as well as autonomic disorders. We also specialise in the diagnosis of neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer, dementia etc.
The Department runs a supraregional stroke unit and hosts the Interdisciplinary Neurovascular Center – one of the largest centres for the treatment of acute ischemic and haemorrhagic stroke. It coordinates a certified neurovascular network. Professor Veltkamp is an internationally renowned expert in stroke and cerebrovascular diseases. There is intensive collaboration with the Departments of Interventional Neuroradiology (chair: Prof Rene Chapot) and Neurosurgery (Prof Ebner). The Clinic for Neurology also focusses on rare cerebrovascular disorders including Moyamoya angiopathy, cerebral vasculitis, young stroke as well as inflammatory and genetic vascular diseases and is part of the European VASCERN-Network (Lead: Prof Krämer).

Neurosurgery
The medical team of the Clinic for Neurosurgery treats various clinical pictures of the central and peripheral nervous system. This is a field that demands extreme precision. The clinic holds the Certificate for Vascular Neurosurgery (DGNC) and is one of the few centres to use the extra-intracranial bypass as well as numerous other minimally invasive therapies. In addition, the clinic holds the Master Certificate of the German Spine Society (DWG).

Radiology and neuroradiology
The Clinic for Radiology and Neuroradiology is a central department in the Alfried Krupp Hospital. It has state-of-the-art equipment for fast and reliable diagnosis and therapy of various clinical pictures.
Neuroradiology offers all invasive diagnostic measures, such as angiography, myelography or computer tomography and ultrasound-guided tissue sampling. Intracranial or intraspinal vascular diseases have been successfully treated in the neuroradiology department for many years and in large numbers.

The Clinic for Urology and Urological Oncology offers the entire spectrum of diagnostics and therapy for urological diseases. The use of state-of-the-art medical technology ensures the best results. Using the semi-robot MRT fusion biopsy with ARTEMIS, an exact diagnosis can be made if prostate cancer is suspected. The da Vinci surgical system enables minimally invasive procedures with maximum precision.
